Majorette Camp 2024 Concludes with Showcase Finale

As the summer winds down and we head into fall, Melodic Movements is celebrating the success of its Majorette Camp, which recently concluded on Aug. 2. Parents, supporters, and MM staff gathered in the parking lot of the Hockessin studio for a final showcase performance where participants displayed what they learned over the course of the week-long camp.

This year, 20 students participated in the program that teaches dancers HBCU majorette fundamentals including field routines, flag dancing, audition prep, and more. We also welcomed guest instructors Ms. Asia Martin and Ms. Sydney Fuller, who both come from two well-known majorette teams. Ms. Asia, who provided virtual instruction, is a former Stingette Dance Captain from Mississippi’s Jackson State University. One lucky dancer, Lauryn Perry, was selected via raffle to do a one-on-one dance consultation with Ms. Asia.

Ms. Sydney is a former Golden Delight Dance captain from North Carolina A&T State University. She worked with the dancers on Golden Delight-inspired techniques and field routines.

This is our fifth time hosting the MM Majorette Camp, which was originally founded in 2020.
